It’s true, I’ve been lucky to have done some travel with my guitar. When I sat down the other to think about blog ideas, more accurately, when I was laying in bed with caffeine induced insomnia, I came up with an idea. Now that I am more sedentary, it’s time to go back through one and half decades of travel memories. This seems like a fantastic idea, right? But there was a problem. Blog posting without images, videos, and music just plain ol’ suck. If I wanted to read something, I’d get a paper and ink book.

I would like to take a moment to send a personal and intimate “F-U” to the United States Postal Office. Why do you ask? Because they stole my 2 terrabyte hard drive with nearly a decade of archived footage from my tours. Yes, some one took the time to cut open my box. Take everything of value (including my 2014 Christmas presents), and reseal the box. Man, that’s just low.
Now, I had backed up everything in triplicate, but I still lost a TON of material. Not only was it a heart wrenching loss, it was a maddening and frustrating process just to try and make a claim. I spent hours and hours on hold. Transferred between dozens of reps, filled out forms and nothing ever went anywhere. After about 8 weeks I gave up. No doubt my terra byte was long gone by then. And we wonder why the USPS is going out of business. It’s not enough to face the writing on the wall about the need for a paper mail delivery service in the age of eMail, but they just SUCK in the customer service department.

But what does all this have to do with Penang Malaysia? I visited there a few times during 2012 and 2013. Honestly, it was at the end of my bulk of my travel for the cruise lines. That being said, it kinds of blurs together. I need to have my reference material, journals and videos to remind myself of what was special about each place.
One of the places I visited in Penang was the Butterfly Farm.
